Compadres and Compadrettes -

No foolin'. This time the newsletter really will be blisteringly brief. There's been plenty of caffeine, and the desire to rant has not been lacking ... there's just been no time. My producer has had me strapped into the recording chair for days on end (not the Comfy Chair of Arthurian legend, I assure you) with giant, clampy headphones clamped to my head and great bulbous calluses sprouting like mushrooms from the fingertips of my fretting hand. The fiend has been plying me with many steaming flagons of eye-talian coffee and is extracting as many notes as he can from me before I leave for a three and half week tour of the Great Southeast next Thursday. So those of you that come see me soon in CA, FL, GA, TN, NC & SC, please try not to notice the especially flat aspect of my posterior, nor my huge, reddened, Elmer Fudd - lookin' ears, nor the one hand that looks like nothing so much as the business end of the salt-sucking monster from that very early episode of Star Trek. And for my part, I promise not to notice you not noticing.
